James Larsen

Chief Executive Officer

Prior to joining UPPCO, Jim Larsen spent 17 years at SEMCO Energy Gas Company, where he held several leadership positions before being appointed president in 2010.

Before joining SEMCO, Jim held a series of engineering and operational management positions over 10 years at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) in northern New York state. KAPL, which was operated by GE and Lockheed Martin, is responsible for the design, testing and training of U.S. Navy nuclear power plant reactors.

Jim successfully completed Navy Nuclear Power School (Officer Class), graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University。 He earned a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Colorado。

Gradon Haehnel- Chief Financial Officer

Chief Financial Officer

Gradon Haehnel serves as Chief Financial Officer for Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO). Gradon has fifteen years of experience in the electric utility industry. Prior to joining the UPPCO team, he spent twelve years at Emera Maine, an investor-owned transmission and distribution utility serving northern New England. During his career, Gradon has held various roles of increasing responsibility in regulatory affairs, asset management, operations, and financial planning and analysis.

As Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for UPPCO, Gradon oversees all aspects of the regulatory process to achieve success for our customers and Company. Gradon directs the development of regulatory policies and initiatives that support business strategies, including, but not limited to, rate case applications, integrated resource plans, power supply cost recovery plans and routine regulatory compliance filings.

Gradon received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his Master of Science in Resource and Applied Economics from the University of Alaska at Fairbanks.


Keith Moyle

Chief Operating Officer

Keith began his utility career in 1985 with Wisconsin Public Service Corporation as an electrical engineer, later holding the positions of assistant gas distribution engineer, division electric engineer, Minocqua customer service manager, and director – Fleet Services. He joined UPPCO in 2006.

A native of Calumet, Keith received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and is a registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin。 He serves on the board of the Marquette County Economic Club, the board of Lake Superior Community Partnership, and is also a member of the Marquette County Ambassadors。

Keith and his wife, Becky, have a son Justin, and a dog, Rosie. In his free time Keith enjoys golf, boating, downhill skiing and traveling.


Brett French

Vice President, Business Development and Communications

Brett comes to UPPCO from American Transmission Company (ATC) where he spent 16 years managing the company’s interests in Michigan。 During his tenure there, Brett worked closely with customers, regulators and interested stakeholders, effectively managing the external affairs of the company。 ATC provides Electric Transmission Service throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and portions of Wisconsin and Illinois。

A long-time resident of Ishpeming, Michigan, Brett is active in a number of community organizations. He serves as board president of NICE Community Schools in Ishpeming, co-chair of Operation Action U.P., is the co-founder and board chair of the Midwest Skills Development Center and a is member of Marquette County Ambassadors. He serves on the boards of the Marquette County Economic Development Corporation, Lake Superior Community Partnership, LSCP Foundation and Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance. Brett has also served as chair of the Bell Hospital Foundation and United Way of Marquette County and is a past President of the Ishpeming Rotary Club.


Stephen Serraino

General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance & Ethics Officer

Steve has more than 30 years of experience with a broad spectrum of legal functions that include commercial transactions, HR/labor, real estate, construction, litigation, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, health & safety, environment, and insurance, among others。 Prior to joining UPPCO in December 2014, he worked in another highly regulated industry as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for an alcohol beverages manufacturer。 Before becoming a corporate in-house legal counsel, Steve represented Fortune 500 companies that included Whirlpool Corporation, a major home appliance manufacturer, and CSX Transportation, an interstate railroad。

秒速飞艇玩法Steve received his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Ohio State University College of Law and is admitted to the practice of law in Michigan, Ohio, and two other states。 He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from Ohio Northern University College of Business Administration with dual majors in Management and Marketing。 Steve served as Vice-Chairman of the Ohio Supreme Court’s Lawyers’ Fund for Client Security and he serves on the Supply Chain Management Advisory Board for the University of Toledo (Ohio) College of Business and Innovation。 As time permits, Steve enjoys billiards, sporting clays, coin collecting, and reading。


Kay Ryan

Vice President, Human Resources

Kay Ryan serves as Vice President of Human Resources for Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO)。 Kay has over eighteen years of experience in Human Resources。 Prior to joining the UPPCO team, she spent twelve years with Leprino Foods, a privately-owned company and the world’s largest mozzarella cheese maker/top producer of whey protein and dairy ingredients, as well as two years with PotlatchDeltic (formerly known as Potlatch), a REIT that also operates eight manufacturing facilities that produce lumber and panel products。

秒速飞艇玩法Kay received her Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from Ferris State University and her Master of Science in Administration (MSA) from Central Michigan University. She enjoys being part of a governing board for the Upper Peninsula Labor Management Council and is also a Mentor for the Student Leader Fellowship Program at Northern Michigan University. Kay is a native of mid-Michigan and eventually ended up in the Upper Peninsula at the urging of her husband, who is a Palmer native. Together they have three children – Megan, Mackenzie and Killean, one grandchild – Kaelyn, and two dogs- Jacks and Nova.
